Robotic Process Automation – all you need to know

Reading time: 4 Min

Optimization is a keyword in our current highly competitive business environment. Cost-efficiency optimization, process optimization, procedures optimization, customer satisfaction optimization, marketing optimization… It seems like an endless list of business components that can always be transformed to become more efficient, productive and better performing.

Robotic Process Automation proves it true. Moreover, in the course of the last few years, it is indeed RPA that gives an answer to the question many business owners, directors and managers ask – “How to optimize my business?”

In this blogpost we will discuss everything you need to know about RPA in order to take the decision to integrate it within your business structure. If you want to check if Robotic Process Automation is relevant to your business needs, you can read this article.

What is RPA?

None

Robotic Process Automation, or RPA, is a digital transformation tool that optimizes business processes by the use of a software technology that digitally mirrors the execution of redundant, time-consuming tasks that can also prone errors. When integrating RPA, a predefined combination of values and rules is subjected to a robot (or “bot”)’s machine learning process which mimics the human – computer exchanges in order to create a zero-error automatic algorithm to perform the examined tasks.

What are the advantages of RPA?

Our decades-long experience with RPA has provided us with many examples of successful business optimization by RPA incorporation in the following directions:

Higher overall business performance

The automation of low-value but highly demanding human engagement tasks and services creates space for an in-depth focus on high-value actions and thus, more profitable results. RPA increases conversion rates and sales and easily can reach up to 200 % of return on investment (ROI) in the first year following the integration. Also, the reduced risk of manual errors leads to a lower percentage of inefficiency and/or waste. All of these factors improve the cost-efficiency ratio of the company.

HR process optimization and increased employee satisfaction

According to a research conducted by PwC[1], 40 percent of the HR functions of international companies were using RPA and AI-applications by 2017, and we can imagine that this ratio is even higher in 2020.

With the integration of RPA, your business becomes more dedicated to creating value for its employees, offering them more engaging, creative, intuitive, problem-solving assignments that bring the human face of the business on the front line.

From a branding perspective, companies whose redundant manual processes are automated, are more attractive to new employees thanks to their progressive, human-centered and stronger brand values. Indeed, and paradoxically, deployed automation does not trigger human jobs loss or reduction: current employees can be up-trained and reallocated to better match their personal qualities and interests, and new ones can be recruited for more strategic positions.

Increased customer satisfaction

As stated in the latest Forbes article on RPA, a happy customer is a loyal customer[2].  Digital transformation, RPA and AI are perfect means to create a better customer experience, shorter user paths to respond to their needs and what is even more important – with better understanding of what their needs really are, based on compound data sets acquired through machine analysis.

Better data management

One of the greatest advantages of RPA is the possibility of automated data collection with superior quality by running analysis through large scale of contacts, their most frequently asked questions and most common behaviors. As a result, various patterns can be concluded, as well as data-based marketing incentives.

Error reduction and improved security

As already discussed, RPA drastically reduces the human errors. Additionally, sensitive data will be machine-protected, which is a definite advantage against cybercrimes and data leaks.

The future of RPA

A month ago, the renowned technological leader and our partner Gartner issued their predictions for the strategic technological future of 2021. Hyperautomation, or the complete mirroring of business processes by an AI, is a repeating and upscaling trend from 2020, which gives us an idea of the page of RPA penetration within the business world.

Hyperautomation is irreversible and inevitable. Everything that can and should be automated will be automated.

Brian Burke, Research Vice President at Gartner
